Accident Prevention Regulations / Occupational Health and Safety Act

The professional association regulations and rules of the professional association wood and metal (BGHM) apply in our company. As a contractor, you have to carry out all work on the ae premises within the framework of the Occupational Safety and Health Act, as well as the relevant regulations assigned to you and the trade association regulations and rules.

Workplace

Please only stay at the agreed workplace. The workplace must be left in a clean condition at the end of the day. You are responsible for providing your own workplace lighting. There is a considerable risk of injury from liquefied metal (>600°C). Therefore, keep as far away as possible from furnaces, vehicles, molds and vessels with liquid metal and wear appropriate protective equipment.

Accidents

Accidents must be reported to the ae contact person. Fatal, serious or mass accidents must be reported immediately to the person responsible for the shift in the production area and then the occupational safety and environmental protection department, as the responsible office for occupational safety and the professional association must be informed.

This does not affect the provisions on reporting accidents that apply to your own company.

Traffic and parking

Driving into buildings with cars and trucks is prohibited without special permission.

Parking is prohibited in the east, north and west areas in relation to the factory road. A holding time of 3 minutes is permitted for loading and unloading purposes. To park your vehicle, use the marked areas in front of the main building or the options in the employee car park.

Please use the marked footpaths. Also note that there is one-way traffic around the factory building.

Property of the company

The use of the company's equipment  is only permitted after obtaining consent.

Tools, power tools and machines

The tools, machines and devices used by you must be in working order and comply with applicable regulations - branded with safety and CE marking.

Risk Assessment

Before starting work, a risk assessment of possible environmental, fire and explosion risks and possible hazards / impairments to our employees must be carried out.

In the event of such risks, inform the affected department at the following number: Occupational safety +49 36922 35-255 | Environmental protection +49 36922 35-336 and take appropriate protective measures.

When handling hazardous substances, the risk to persons from hazardous substances (which arise during the performance of the service) must be prevented. Compressed gas cylinders are to be secured against falling over and provided with protective caps when not in use. Do not park / use on liquid metal transport routes. Storage of hazardous substances (e.g. paints and solvents, flammable liquids) are only allowed after consultation of your ae contact person. Do not allow oxygen fittings, lines and seals to come into contact with grease, glycerin or oil (danger of explosion!). The use or processing of asbestos or substances containing asbestos is prohibited.

Installations conducting electrical voltage

Switching power off and on or assembling and disassembling of safety devices is only allowed to be carried out by a representative of ae group’s electrical department. Unauthorized actions on all electrical equipment are prohibited.

Electrical connections to the ae plant network may only be carried out by qualified ae electricians. The power distributors you use must be in the correct condition.

The ae contact must be notified immediately of any disruptions.

Hot works at high temperature

Hot works are only allowed with the consent (permit document 408) of the ae contact. It is forbidden to use gas fired boilers or otherwise heating with tar on the roofs of the buildings. Fire extinguishers must be on hand during fire-hazardous works, including welding works on the premises of ae.

Gas, water, compressed air

These supplies may only be disconnected by an authorized person of ae group’s Maintenance Department.

Civil Engineering Works

Before starting civil engineering works (excavations, pits, channels, etc.), find out about the location of power cables, water and gas pipes. Piling wooden, iron rods etc. into the ground, as well as the digging of pits and trenches requires written approval from the ae group.

Immediately report exposed cables or cables damaged by excavation. Until a qualified electrician from the ae group arrives, the area of damage must be demarcated and secured against the approach of people and vehicles.

Construction sites, excavations, pits, canals and floor openings must be secured. Use construction site lighting in the dark.

Scaffolding, ladders and roofs

Only use proper ladders and scaffolding. Ladders are to be selected according to their place of use and only to be used when they are in a safe condition. In the event of damage, these must be removed from the factory premises immediately.

Setup scaffolding in accordance with legal requirements. Use only faultless scaffolding material, with platforms with side shields consisting of a handrail, knee rail and bottom rail. Do not move mobile scaffolding when people are on it. Avoid working on scaffolding when working underneath. Exception: closed scaffolding areas.

Roofs without a load-bearing roof skin - e.g. glass roofs, corrugated sheet roofs - only walk on planks. If there is a risk of falling, tested PPE (personal protective equipment) must be used to prevent falling.

Crane systems and Forklifts

Vehicles used in internal traffic, such as cranes, hydraulic lifts and forklifts, may not be used without permission. If these are required for assembly purposes, consult the ae contact.

Gross contamination of the roads as well as their damage must be removed immediately by the person who caused it. Only use mobile cranes and other lifting devices if they comply with the provision of DGUV regulation 52 for cranes.

Environmental Protection

Statutory legal requirements, in particular for emission control, waste and water protection, must be observed. Rule out soil/water pollution. Report spills or accidents immediately to the production area shift manager.

In the event of leaks, shut-off measures must be taken to prevent liquid from spreading, e.g. use oil binding agents, seal inlets and drains, etc. Immediately afterwards, inform the person responsible for the shift in the production area and then the environmental protection department.

Waste

The contractor/external company is responsible for the proper disposal of waste at their own expense, unless otherwise agreed.

The contractor/external company is responsible for the correct waste separation. Waste incineration or open fires on the factory premises are prohibited.

Energy

When carrying out your order, care must be taken to use energy responsibly in order to save energy or use it efficiently.

No Smoking / Consumption of Alcohol / Intoxicating Substances

Visitors who pose a danger to themselves or others as a result of alcohol consumption or other intoxicating substances may not carry out their work.

At the ae group, smoking is only permitted in designated smoking areas. These can be requested from the ae contact person.

Emergencies

In the event of a fire immediately call the fire department via the emergency number 112 or push the nearest fire alarm button. In the event of a fire alarm, immediately leave the building and go to the assembly point indicated on the escape and rescue plans.
