With the purchase of a new holding furnace from STØTEK, the ae group is following its sustainability approach to exploit energy saving potential. Since 2016, the group has been sourcing 60% of its aluminum in liquid form from a local supplier. Since then, around 50% of gas consumption and over 8 million kg of CO2 have been saved. This investment will increase the amount of liquid aluminum and therefore, further reduce gas consumption. Thanks to its efficient thermal insulation, the furnace has a very low energy consumption of 60 kWh to keep the 22 tons of aluminum constantly warm at 720°C. This project was supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action on the basis of a decision by the German Bundestag.
